Cross country

Cross country

The school cross country was last friday. Everybody was dressed up all crazy and we all had a good time. We lined up on the hard courts and waited for our turn, time was flying by and it was nearly time or the year 8 girls to start running. Finally it was the year 8 girls turn, we lined up ready to run and we were off!. The year 8 girls had started running the 3 kilometre race, while we were running we all remembered that we were only racing ourselves and to do our personal best. It was great to see all the teachers at each corner cheering us on in there colourful clothes. This year as my last cross country run, i am looking forward to athletes coming up in term 4. Even though i wasn't in the top 10, i’m still proud of myself for finishing the race.

Reflection Week 9

What have you accomplished this week, this week sheena and daliz taught me there dance we are doing. I have learnt half of the dance in less than a week. We are doing a samoan dance called mauluulu.

What did you find challenging, The only thing i found challenging was one specific move, after practicing and practicing i got the hang of it pretty quickly.

What has helped you to overcome these challenges, Seeing mereana participating helps me overcome this challenge although me and mereana are not samoan we still give it our best shot and put 100% into our practices.

What would you like to work on next week, i would like to work on my confidence, next week we are showing the whole of team 5 what we have been working on, and my confidence needs a boost up.

Letter to Pak n Save Manager

BO pt england road
Pt england
Glen Innes

8 March 2018

Kia ora manager,
My name is jayde, I am a year 8 student at pt england school.
I am writing this letter to explain why plastic bags should be banned from the shops all around Auckland.

One reason why i think you should ban plastic bags is because there single use,
meaning there only used once. People go to pak n save and use a plastic bag to hold there shopping,
but then once they've finished with them they leave them lying around and they go into places they
shouldn’t and then it causes trouble.

Another reason is because the plastic bags are getting into the ocean and it’s killing our marine life,
and our native animals. For example when Turtles see plastic bags they eat them because they think
it’s a jellyfish, jellyfish is the  Turtles favourite thing to eat, and another example a bird might eat a bit
of material, glass and bits of plastic bag because they think it’s food.

My last reason why plastic bags should be banned is because it can harm our health.
A plastic bag can travel a long way and still be in tip top shape, meaning when it finally
gets taken to the dump and gets crushed it makes air pollution and it harms our health and
can make us sick, another way it can make us sick is the fish, we eat fish that have eaten rubbish like
“plastic bags”.

Hopefully from my three ideas i have persuaded you to go along with my plan and ban all the plastic
bags from the shops around Auckland, of course we can still use bags to hold our shopping in but not
plastic, we can use tote bags, that way we can use them over and over again and it won’t cause as
much trouble.

Letter to Ms Tapuke

Dear Ms Tapuke,

My name is Jayde. I am 12 years old and i'm the youngest of six in my family. I have one sister,
a sister in law and two brothers and a niece.
I am originally from New Zealand but i lived in Australia most of my life, t
hen i moved to New Zealand in 2017 on the 5th of March,
and i started my first day at Pt England on the 6th of March.

I like to draw and write stories, my favourite thing of all of course is writing.

I've always been in either the highest or the second highest groups when it comes to reading and writing.
I love animals more than anything especially dogs.

My favourite subject is literacy And my least favourite subject is maths.

It took me a while to get used to chromebooks because i’m used to using a pencil and paper.
My goal for 2018 is to make new friends and get better at maths.

A good teacher makes sure your on task,

doing the right thing at the right time and helping you when you need it.
I might need help with my writing every now and then but im sure i can manage most of the time.

Closing: thank you for reading my letter, i hope this letter helped you learn more about me and my lifestyle.

Yours sincerely, Jayde.
